A stabilized GHRH analog with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification. An extensively studied compound that has been investigated for its effects on GHRH receptor-mediated signaling and visceral adipose tissue metabolism.
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of human GHRH(1-44) with a trans-3-hexenoic acid group attached to the tyrosine at position 1 via the amino terminus. This modification provides resistance to enzymatic degradation by DPP-IV, extending its biological activity. Like native GHRH, tesamorelin activates the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs to stimulate pulsatile GH release and subsequent hepatic IGF-1 production. Studies have investigated its effects on visceral adipose tissue metabolism, demonstrating modulation of trunk fat distribution, with observations of changes in trunk fat-to-limb fat ratio in research settings.

Key finding: Research investigated GHRH receptor-mediated effects on visceral adipose tissue metabolism over 26 weeks, observing modulation of adipose tissue distribution parameters.

Key finding: Research examined the relationship between GHRH receptor activation and hepatic lipid metabolism, investigating effects on both visceral adipose tissue and hepatic fat fraction biomarkers.
